About Barbara J. Matteson

Barbara J. Matteson was born and raised in Seattle, Washington.  Since 1987 she has resided on Whidbey Island, 27 miles and a short ferry trip away from the city.

 

Ms. Matteson began attending college classes in 1975 indulging her interest in Sciences.  She graduated from University of Washington with a major in Earth Science and minors in Chemistry and Botany.  For recreation during college and subsequest employment Barbara attended art classes and workshops in glassblowing, lampwork bead making, enameling, Precious Metal Clay and Photoshop.  She organized Life Drawing sessions on Whidbey Island and was a founding member of Whidbey Island Artists' Cooperative Gallery.

 

Ms. Matteson's Gold-glass has been widely exhibited since its first showing in 2003.  Her artwork has received awards and is included in the Permanent Collection of The Wichita Center for the Arts.
